Escritor estadounidense. Educado en la Universidad de Maine, King escribió varios libros inmensamente populares que lo convirtieron en uno de los autores más vendidos del mundo. Sus obras mezclan el horror, lo macabro, la fantasía y la ciencia ficción. Carrie (1974; película 1976), su primera novela publicada y éxito inmediato, fue seguida de una larga serie de títulos famosos, entre los que figuran El resplandor (1977; película, 1980; serie de televisión, 1997), La zona muerta (1979; película, 1983), Cementerio de animales (1983; película, 1989) y Misery (1987; película, 1990). La mayoría de sus novelas han sido adaptadas a la televisión o el cine, y muchas han sido traducidas a varios idiomas.
